In the night of August 8, 2026, the Kyiv region was subjected to a massive drone attack once again. The most severe consequences were recorded in the Brovary district, where three people, including a child, died as a result of falling debris. Official data on casualties and destruction was confirmed by Timur Tkachenko, Head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration.
Scale of destruction in the Brovary district
According to reports from RBK-Ukraine citing Timur Tkachenko, strikes hit three local points in the Brovary district. As a result of falling drone debris, a private residential house, several outbuildings, and parked cars were damaged. Additionally, a fire broke out on the territory of one of the non-residential buildings, which is currently being localized by fire services.
The situation on the ground remains tense: rescuers continue to work on eliminating the consequences of the attack, evacuating the injured, and searching for possible victims under the rubble. All necessary services — from the Ministry of Emergency Situations to medical personnel — are operating in an enhanced mode.
Human losses: a tragedy for families
According to official data, three people died as a result of the attack. Among the deceased is a child, which is particularly tragic and evokes deep sympathy. Three others were injured, including a second child. Timur Tkachenko expressed sincere condolences to the relatives and loved ones of the deceased, calling the incident an "immeasurable loss".
The names of the deceased and injured are currently not disclosed to protect their families. However, it is known that all injured persons have been taken to the nearest medical facilities for assistance. Doctors assess their condition as stable but requiring observation.

While the authorities of the Kyiv region provided clear information about casualties and destruction in the Brovary district, data on the consequences in the capital itself remains contradictory. Media outlets reported explosions in Kyiv on the same night, however, official representatives of the city administration have not yet confirmed the presence of casualties or significant destruction in the city.
Furthermore, reports emerged of ballistic missile launches directed towards Kyiv, but neither side has provided detailed information about the trajectories, targets, or results of these launches. This creates an information vacuum that could be used for disinformation.
Context: a series of attacks in August 2026
The night attack on August 8 was already the second in a week. On the night of August 5, Russia carried out a massive missile and drone attack using ballistic missiles. The main strike hit the Kyiv region, where people died, and key logistics hubs and warehouses of companies such as Rozetka, Epicentr, Nova Poshta, and others came under fire.
According to official data, as a result of that attack, one woman died in Kyiv, and up to 30 people were injured. In the region — 16 dead and 36 injured. The current attack on August 8 demonstrates that the enemy continues to deliberately strike infrastructure and populated areas, sparing no civilians.
Government reaction and prospects
Timur Tkachenko, Head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, urged the population to remain calm and follow the recommendations of civil defense services. He also emphasized that Ukraine continues to strengthen its air defense system and improve methods of countering drones.
The international community condemned the attack, calling it a "crime against the civilian population." At the same time, experts warn that Russia may increase the intensity of attacks in anticipation of possible political decisions in the West regarding weapons supplies.
