Former US President Donald Trump gave an in-depth interview to Fox News, commenting on the situation in the Middle East. According to him, the straits closed due to the conflict with Iran will be opened soon. However, Trump did not rule out that this could happen in two ways: either through diplomatic negotiations or after delivering a 'very strong blow'.
'Largest Attack Since WWII'
During the conversation, Trump revealed details that had previously remained off-camera. He stated that the US administration was preparing a large-scale military operation against Iran, which he called the 'most powerful attack' in recent decades. According to the politician, preparations were in full swing, but the situation changed after Tehran contacted Washington.
'We were preparing the most powerful attack — the largest since World War II. And they called me and very politely said: "Please, can we talk?". And I said: "Yes, we can talk. Let's finish the job"', RBC-Ukraine quotes Trump as saying.
Threat in Case of Breach of Commitments
The key condition for Trump was the issue of Iran's nuclear program. He reiterated his thesis that Tehran must not possess nuclear weapons and emphasized that this would be officially recorded. At the same time, the American leader warned of the consequences in the event of a breakdown in agreements.
'If they renege on their commitments again, is it the end for them? Well, if they renege again, they will be hit very hard. They know it. They understand it. I have no choice. They cannot have nuclear weapons. It's very simple', Trump emphasized.
Thus, according to the politician, Iran understands the price of its actions, and the issue of closing the straits will be resolved in the near future, regardless of the chosen scenario.
