Applicants planning to enroll in 2026 are facing a significant revision of contract tuition fees at leading educational institutions in Lviv. Universities have already announced new rates, with the most noticeable increase affecting in-demand fields: information technology, law, economics, and management.
Ivan Franko National University of Lviv
At Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (UNLv), tuition fees for several specializations have risen by nearly 30%. If last year's annual contract ranged from 39,790 to 66,760 UAH, the range for the new academic year is from 51,400 to 86,700 UAH.
The most expensive programs are:
- Law;
- Computer Science;
- Software Engineering;
- Cybersecurity;
- English Philology and Translation.
Tuition fees for these fields have reached 86,700 UAH per year. Economic specializations such as psychology, management, marketing, and economics have also become significantly more expensive. Their cost increased from 53,700 to 69,100 UAH, representing a rise of nearly 29%.
Even the most affordable fields, including biology, physics, chemistry, and secondary education specializations, have become more expensive. They now cost 51,400 UAH per year, whereas the minimum price the previous year was 39,790 UAH.
Lviv Polytechnic
At Lviv Polytechnic National University, IT specializations traditionally remain the most expensive. Tuition for the "Computer Science" program with a specialization in artificial intelligence has become the most expensive among state universities in the city — 100,000 UAH per year. Software Engineering will cost applicants 90,000 UAH.
Fields such as "Law", "Economics", "Management", "Journalism", and architectural programs cost between 56,800 and 75,000 UAH. Engineering and construction specializations, as well as transport technologies and fire safety, have the lowest cost — starting from 52,000 UAH per year.
National University of Water Resources and Environmental Engineering
High prices for the IT sector are also established at the National University of Water Resources and Environmental Engineering. The "Computer Science" and "Software Engineering" programs cost 55,000 UAH. Specializations "Cybersecurity and Information Protection" and "Information Systems and Technologies" are valued at 48,000 UAH, and "Computer Engineering" — at 43,000 UAH.
For economic, legal, and tourism specializations, as well as hotel and restaurant management, a single price has been set — 49,950 UAH. The university guarantees that this amount will not change during the entire four-year study period.
Specialized fields such as forestry and landscape gardening cost 32,000 UAH for the first year. The lowest cost — 29,500 UAH — is set for ecology, geodesy, and woodworking.
Ukrainian Catholic University
The most expensive educational institution in Lviv remains the Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU). Unlike state universities, where prices are differentiated by specialization, at UCU most bachelor's programs have a single cost. If tuition cost 147,000 UAH a year ago, now the first year will cost 165,000 UAH.
The university offers a financial support system: applicants with high NMT results can receive scholarships or discounts covering 50 to 75% of the contract cost.
The price increase in Lviv universities significantly exceeds the level of official inflation, creating an additional financial burden for applicants and their families. For comparison, growth is also observed in other regions of Ukraine: at Kharkiv National University named after Karazin, prices rose by nearly 40%, and at Kyiv National University named after Taras Shevchenko — by 27%.
