The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported the fire-based destruction of key enemy command facilities during strikes on August 26 and in the night of August 27. According to the official statement, units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine struck a number of important enemy targets, including in the Donetsk area, where air-launched missiles destroyed the main and backup command posts of the Russian occupiers. The extent of the damage inflicted and enemy losses are being clarified, according to the General Staff.
Nature of the strike and type of weapons
According to verified data, the aviation of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine carried out a precision strike using Western-made air-launched missiles (of the Storm Shadow / SCALP-EG type) against the buried and camouflaged command posts of the formations of the occupation forces in the Kyivskyi and Kuybyshevskyi districts of occupied Donetsk. A detonation was recorded, the command infrastructure was destroyed, and the officer corps of the command posts was eliminated; follow-on reconnaissance of the scale of enemy losses is ongoing. Strikes by the Defense Forces of Ukraine are carried out exclusively against confirmed military facilities and enemy decision-making centers.
Other targets of the August 25–27 strikes
In addition to the command posts in Donetsk, in the Chongar area of Kherson Oblast, other means were used to strike an enemy repair and recovery unit, as well as a UAV command post in Olenivka on the temporarily occupied territory of Ukrainian Crimea. In addition, areas of concentration of the occupiers' personnel near Novopetrivka in Zaporizhzhia Oblast and the village of Vostok on the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea were struck. As a result of analyzing additional data, it was established that on August 25, following the strike on the Afipskyi Oil Refinery in the Krasnodar Krai of the Russian Federation, damage to the AO atmospheric distillation unit, the gas fractionation unit, and a section of the pipeline was confirmed. The facility has repeatedly been targeted due to its importance for the fuel supply of the Russian army.

There is a significant discrepancy between the official General Staff summary of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and reports from Russian occupation resources in the classification of the strike target. The Ukrainian side confirms the destruction of precisely military facilities — protected command posts and communication nodes of the operational-tactical level of the Russian military grouping. At the same time, the occupation authorities and propaganda channels claim an "strike on the civilian Donetsk-City shopping center" or damage to the building from debris of missiles shot down by Russia's own air defense. The enemy regularly uses underground parking lots, communication nodes, and administrative blocks adjacent to large commercial facilities as command headquarters, and in the event of their precise destruction shifts the blame onto the operation of its own air defense system, claiming damage to the facade of the building and the surrounding area.
Context and assessment
The confirmed destruction of the main and backup command posts demonstrates the ability of the Defense Forces of Ukraine to detect and neutralize the enemy's distributed command system, including redundant nodes. As emphasized in the General Staff's statement, strikes are carried out strictly against military targets, and any claims of the destruction of civilian infrastructure in this case are part of the enemy's information campaign, masking the placement of headquarters near civilian buildings.
