Swedish Gripen fighters: a priority for the Ukrainian Armed Forces
Earlier, in May, it was reported that Sweden would officially transfer 16 Saab JAS 39 Gripen fighter jets to Ukraine and also sell an additional 22 new aircraft. This was announced by Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson. Ukraine and Sweden are preparing to sign contracts for the delivery of these fighters, which have been officially designated as one of the priorities for strengthening the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The first batch of Swedish JAS 39 Gripen fighters is expected to be equipped with long-range Meteor air-to-air missiles, significantly enhancing their combat effectiveness. These aircraft will become a key element in Ukraine’s air defense system, helping to counter threats from Russia.
