The Ukrainian government has adopted its first decision under an emergency support package for the agricultural sector. The Cabinet of Ministers has temporarily adjusted the minimum allowable export prices for certain types of agricultural products. This step is a response to the complex situation involving strikes on port infrastructure and a sharp change in logistical conditions.
The decision was announced by Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi in his Telegram channel. According to him, the current economic reality has made previously established minimum prices unattainable for concluding contracts. The main factors were the increase in logistics costs and the decline in domestic raw material procurement prices.
Goal: Unblock export channels
The main task of the price adjustment is to prevent a complete halt in the export of grain and oilseed crops. The Prime Minister emphasized that the new measure will allow producers to unblock the possibility of selling and shipping their products abroad. Without this step, farmers would have faced an inability to operate under current market conditions.
The decision was coordinated with industry representatives on August 2. This is one of the practical support steps aimed at maintaining the operational capacity of the agro-industrial complex during wartime.
Processing development plan and new financing mechanisms
In addition to adjusting prices, Serhiy Koretskyi has ordered the immediate preparation of a plan to develop the processing of Ukrainian agricultural products. This initiative aims to strengthen support for domestic producers and increase added value within the country.
Simultaneously, the government is working on creating new financing mechanisms for farmers. In particular, joint programs with the banking sector are being developed to provide producers with the necessary resources.
Additional support measures for the population
As part of the general support package, the government has also expanded the program for citizens planning to install autonomous heating systems in their homes. Additionally, an immediate inspection of all civil defense shelters has been initiated. Control will cover both their technical condition and accessibility for the population.
