Strike on One of Russia's Largest Refineries
The Yaroslav Oil Refinery, part of the "Slavneft-YANOS" structure, is one of the largest oil processing enterprises in the Russian Federation. According to the data cited in reports on the incident, the plant's capacity is approximately 15 million tons of oil per year, making it a significant node in the country's fuel balance. The enterprise produces a wide range of petroleum products, including gasoline, diesel and aviation fuel, as well as other types of fuel and feedstock for industry.
Massive Fire on the Facility's Territory
Immediately after the drone attack, a massive fire broke out on the territory of the Yaroslav Oil Refinery, according to online reports. Video recordings circulated on Telegram channels and picked up by Ukrainian media show open flames and thick smoke rising over the facility. Thus, on August 26, the "LUKOIL-Nizhnekamsknefteorgsintez" (NORSI) refinery in the city of Kstovo suspended crude oil processing after a Ukrainian drone strike. On August 25, drones attacked the Afipsky Oil Refinery in the Krasnodar Krai, where a unit for the joint processing of gas and gas condensate caught fire.
In addition, on the night of August 22, in Samara Oblast, a drone attack resulted in a strike on the Novokuybyshevsk Oil Refinery, where a fire broke out. On August 21, drones attacked an oil refinery in Perm, where a massive fire also erupted. The totality of these events points to a sustained line of strikes on fuel infrastructure, affecting enterprises in different regions of Russia.
