On the night of October 26, Russian forces launched a massive air attack on various regions of Ukraine, using missile weapons and strike drones. According to official data from the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, air defense forces managed to destroy and suppress a significant portion of the air attack assets, including guided air-to-surface missiles and drones of various modifications.

Scale of the Night Strike and Weapon Types

In total, the night attack involved four missiles and 140 strike drones. The enemy deployed one Kh-31P anti-radiation missile and three Kh-59/69 guided air missiles launched from the temporarily occupied territories of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions.

The drone component of the attack included Shahed UAVs, including 70 jet-powered units, as well as Gerbera drones and Parodiya decoy drones. Launches were carried out from several directions in Russia, as well as from Hvardiiske in the occupied Crimea.

Results of Air Defense Operations

As of 08:00 on October 26, Ukrainian air defense destroyed or suppressed 115 air targets using electronic warfare equipment. Specifically, all three Kh-59/69 guided air missiles were destroyed, along with 112 drones of various types, including 56 jet-powered drones.

Aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems units, and mobile firing groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces were involved in repelling the strike. Despite successful air defense operations, impacts of air attack weapons were recorded in 15 locations, while debris from intercepted targets fell in four other places.

Aftermath of the Attack and Current Situation in the Airspace

By the time preliminary morning summaries were released at 08:00, the attack was not yet fully over: several Russian drones remained in Ukraine's airspace. The military command urged citizens to observe safety rules and respond promptly to air raid alerts.

Such massive raids demonstrate the ongoing intensity of air strikes using combined weapons. The effectiveness of Ukraine's air defense allows for the neutralization of the vast majority of targets, though infrastructure damage in several regions highlights the need to further strengthen the protection system.
