On August 31 and into the night of September 1, 2026, the Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out a series of strikes on Russian military targets — from temporarily occupied Crimea to the rear regions of the Russian Federation. According to the outlet, this was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which RBC-Ukraine cites with reference to the staff's statement. The list of targeted objects includes storage and launch sites for strike drones, communications hubs, command posts, and material and technical support facilities.
Strikes on drone and communications infrastructure
According to the General Staff, in the city of Donetsk and in Gvardeyskoye (temporarily occupied Crimea), Ukrainian units struck sites for the storage, preparation, and launch of strike drones — from which, according to Kyiv, drones are launched over Ukrainian territory. In Mirolyubovo (Crimea), a Russian communications hub was disabled. In the Roda area of Zaporizhzhia Oblast, a command-and-observation post was hit, from which, according to the staff, the actions of units in this direction are coordinated, while in Verkhnekamianska of Luhansk Oblast, an area of military equipment concentration was struck. Separately, the General Staff confirmed the results of a preliminary strike: according to analysis, on August 30 in the Tsimbulova area of Oryol Oblast, a launch platform and a drone storage site were hit.
Russian rear regions
In the rear regions of the Russian Federation, according to the General Staff, a fuel and lubricant (FLM) train used to supply equipment was destroyed in Boriskovo of Belgorod Oblast. The day before, on August 31, the Defense Forces, according to the same data, struck a radar station and a command-and-staff vehicle of an S-400 air defense missile system in Bryansk Oblast, destroyed a communications hub in Belgorod Oblast, and hit a drone control post in the Hulyaipole area.
Yekaterinburg and Wildberries warehouses
In addition to the General Staff's statements, on the morning of August 31 drones attacked the Wildberries logistics center in Yekaterinburg, after which fires broke out on the facility. This is the eighth of the company's ten largest warehouses in Russia to be knocked out since mid-July 2026 due to Ukrainian strikes, as confirmed by a number of Russian and Ukrainian sources.
Contradictory data
The parties' accounts of the scale of operations and losses differ significantly. The Ukrainian General Staff presents the strikes as precise hits on specific military objects. Meanwhile, the Russian side, according to a number of Russian media outlets, claims to have massively repelled the attack: in particular, it is reported that air defense forces "destroyed nearly 500 drones" over Russian territory overnight. These figures are not confirmed by independent sources and contradict the nature of the claimed precision strikes on individual objects. Moreover, the specific results of strikes on military objects (aside from the fire at the Yekaterinburg warehouse) are largely based on the statement of one side — the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine — and have not received independent confirmation.
Thus, the fact of the strikes and the fire at the logistics facility in Yekaterinburg is confirmed by several sources, while the list of targeted military objectives and their combat effect remain largely within the framework of one-sided statements.
