Ukraine is objectively interested in weakening the political positions of Donald Trump and his desynchronized entourage, as such turbulence significantly reduces the risks of destructive geopolitical decisions. This strategy allows Kyiv to maintain a certain degree of maneuverability on the international arena and resist pressure from external actors insisting on clearly disadvantageous territorial or diplomatic compromises.
The desynchronization factor in the American leader's entourage
As noted by strategic communications specialist Yuriy Bohdanov on the RBC-Ukraine podcast "TSE BAZA", it is extremely beneficial for the Ukrainian establishment and Western allies to weaken the positions of the American leader, within whose party a deep split is observed. According to him, even the most prominent figures of the Republican establishment openly demonstrate disagreements on key foreign policy issues.
As a striking example, the expert cited the situation with criticism from key figures, including special envoys and influential politicians who publicly oppose the official leadership line. This internal desynchronization creates a favorable window of opportunity for Ukrainian diplomacy, allowing it to build flexible coalitions and minimize the threat of toxic peace initiatives being imposed.
The need for counter-escalation and strikes on oil infrastructure
Commenting on the current situation on the battlefield and in the airspace, Bohdanov admitted that Ukraine will have to withstand large-scale enemy air attacks for the foreseeable future. However, the aggressor's resources are not limitless, and the military response must remain strictly tough, symmetrical, and systematic.
The expert emphasized that Kyiv is obliged to continue the systematic destruction of military and logistical facilities within the Russian Federation, paying special attention to oil refining infrastructure. Such actions deprive the enemy of financial and resource opportunities to continue the aggressive war, undermining the economic foundation of the regime.
Rejection of dubious energy compromises
Special attention in the expert assessment was paid to various initiatives regarding the so-called "energy truce". Such formats, proposing to limit strikes exclusively to local Ukrainian facilities (such as the Kremenchuk Oil Refinery) without a mirror cessation of enemy attacks, were characterized as completely unacceptable and untenable.
"We can agree to an energy truce, but this is not a Trumpist energy truce where we don't hit Russian oil and they don't hit the battered Kremenchuk Oil Refinery. No, this is not a truce, this is some kind of bullshit. Therefore, we must demonstrate the ability to counter-escalate here," Yuriy Bohdanov summarized, calling for strict strategic autonomy.
