On October 22, the weather situation in Ukraine will remain under the influence of an anticyclone, but forecasters warn: despite the general prevalence of cloudy weather with clear spells, noticeable rains will occur during the day in certain regions. The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center (UkrHMC) has issued a Level I yellow alert for parts of the territory due to the precipitation. Comfortable autumn temperatures will persist, but an umbrella will be necessary for residents of several regions on this day.

Anticyclone from the Urals and Moist Southern Flows

According to the UkrHMC press service, during the day of October 22, weather processes in the country will still be determined by a high-pressure field. "From a powerful anticyclone from the northeast, the center of which is very far from our territory — over the northern regions of the Urals," experts explained. The paradox of the forecast is that there are no atmospheric fronts over Ukraine, yet light rain is possible in places. Forecasters attribute this to "persistent southern flows of warm, very humid air from the Black Sea and Sea of Azov regions," which bring precipitation even without classic fronts.

Yellow Alert Level: Where Significant Rains Are Expected

It is precisely because of daytime precipitation that UkrHMC specialists introduced the warning: "Level I alert, yellow." This combination of factors — moist southern transport and local intensification of precipitation — can lead to complicated road and household conditions in the affected regions. Residents of the respective oblasts are recommended to take into account the likelihood of significant rains when planning trips and outdoor work.

Wind and Gusts in Western Oblasts

The wind on October 22 is expected to be southeast or east at 7–12 m/s. Special attention should be paid to the west of the country: during the day in most western oblasts, gusts up to 15–20 m/s are forecasted in places. This intensifies the feeling of coolness and requires caution in open spaces and near trees and advertising structures.

Weather in Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast

Cloudy weather with clear spells is also forecasted for Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast on October 22. The region will be in the zone of influence of the same anticyclone, so sharp weather contrasts are not expected, but moist southern transport may bring local precipitation. A detailed hourly and regional breakdown of temperature values is published by UkrHMC in its official forecast.

Context: Weather, Microclimate, and Air Quality

Experts remind that the nature of air transport directly affects atmospheric air quality in cities: moist southern flows can both "wash away" pollutants and trap them in the surface layer depending on the wind regime and inversions. Earlier, UkrHMC also assessed the state of Ukrainian rivers in October against the backdrop of water balance issues. Thus, October 22 will be another day when autumn weather dynamics — from the anticyclone to local rains and gusty winds in the west — directly affect daily life and the urban environment.
