President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's entourage has sharply reacted to a publication by the American magazine The Atlantic, whose author claimed the inevitability of peace on Moscow's terms due to Washington's stance. Representatives of the Ukrainian authorities called such claims unfounded and emphasized that Kyiv has no intention of capitulating in the face of foreign policy challenges.
Reaction to American Press Publications
The discussion was sparked by an article written by journalist Simon Shuster in The Atlantic. The material claimed that a recent diesel deal between Donald Trump and the Russian leadership supposedly delivered a critical blow to Ukraine's hopes for victory. One of the unnamed Ukrainian sources cited by the publication stated that due to Washington's shifting line, Kyiv would have no choice other than to halt active operations and sue for peace.
However, the Ukrainian leader's entourage refuted these theses, characterizing them as detached from reality. Official representatives stressed that such judgments do not reflect the actual mindset of the head of state and the Ukrainian team, who continue shaping their defense strategy along the same lines.
Strategy and Infrastructure Operations
Particular attention in the American magazine's piece was paid to initiatives regarding the closure of Russian airports and economic pressure on Moscow. Shuster referenced an anonymous official who stated his realization that Russia's economy will not collapse anytime soon, necessitating a change in approaches.
Presidential advisor Dmytro Litvin clarified this matter, noting that the operation to blockade Russian aviation traffic was authored exclusively by Volodymyr Zelenskyy, with no other originators. Furthermore, Litvin emphasized that Ukraine is not escalating the conflict, but merely responding in kind to regular Russian strikes.
Context of Washington's Decisions and Kyiv's Stance
Tensions between Kyiv and Washington escalated after a diesel deal was struck last week between Donald Trump and the Kremlin. Just yesterday, the Ukrainian leader stated that he feels betrayed by such steps taken by the US administration.
Despite new diplomatic and economic challenges, Ukraine's leadership declares its course remains unchanged. Bankova's position is firm: the country continues its fight for sovereignty and independence, ruling out any scenarios of forced capitulation.
