Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held his first phone call with the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Andy Burnham. The conversation took place immediately after the Labour Party leader officially assumed office, succeeding Keir Starmer.
Confirmation of support
During the call, the Ukrainian leader expressed his pleasure at the conversation and congratulated Burnham on starting his work. A key point of the dialogue was the confirmation of the British side's course to continue supporting Kyiv. Zelenskyy particularly emphasized the importance of the fact that assistance to Ukraine and the Ukrainian people will remain strong and unwavering.
The Head of State also thanked the new Prime Minister for his words of respect towards Ukrainians and for accepting condolences regarding the victims among the civilian population killed as a result of recent Russian attacks.
Expanding cooperation
Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that over the past period, Ukraine and Britain have been able to build the strongest partnership in the history of bilateral relations. According to him, the parties will definitely continue working to ensure that this cooperation only expands.
During the conversation, the parties agreed to continue interaction within the framework of the Anti-Ballistic Coalition. Specific details of further work will be discussed during a personal meeting of the leaders, which is expected to take place in the near future.
