The events of the night of July 30 introduced a new, alarming aspect to the dynamics of hostilities on Ukrainian territory. Russian occupiers launched a ballistic missile strike on the settlement of Radushne, located near Kropyvnytskyi (formerly Kirovohrad). As reported by RBK-Ukraine citing a statement by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during this attack, the enemy used weapons manufactured in North Korea for the first time in a long while.
Confirmation of North Korean Ballistic Missile Use
The head of the Ukrainian state emphasized that, according to preliminary data, it was a ballistic missile from North Korea that caused the destruction in Radushne. Zelenskyy noted that a detailed forensic examination lies ahead, but at this moment, information regarding the origin of the munition has already been confirmed. The country's leader called this a manifestation of the "alliance of Moscow's scum with the mad regime in North Korea."
According to the President, the goals of this alliance are obvious: supplying Russia with missiles, transferring North Korean contingents to Europe to the borders of Ukraine, and, as a consequence, the death of Ukrainian citizens, including children.
International Reaction and Incidents in Europe
Zelenskyy drew attention to the reaction of the international community. Many countries condemned this strike and expressed sympathy regarding the civilian casualties. In the context of discussing threats, the President also mentioned a recent incident when a Russian missile violated Polish airspace and exploded in a field near Lublin. This event, according to him, also caused a wide resonance in Europe.
Priority: Air Defense Systems
In his address, Volodymyr Zelenskyy formulated the main task for Ukraine's partners. He emphasized that simple sympathy and diplomatic condemnation are not enough. The key factor capable of stopping the "stupid Russian war" and ending the terror is real military aid in the form of air defense systems.
The President listed specific types of weaponry that are a priority for the country's defense: Patriot, NASAMS, IRIS-T, HAWK, and other systems. It is precisely such pressure and the presence of effective air defense means, in the opinion of the head of state, that can neutralize the threat of ballistic strikes.
