#Habitable Worlds Observatory

University of Washington scientists have created a computer model of a lifeless Earth replicating 5 billion years of geological evolution. The simulation will help astronomers distinguish geological processes from signs of extraterrestrial biota on exoplanets.

Researchers at the University of Washington have developed a computer model of the Earth without living organisms, replicating 5 billion years of geological evolution. The development will serve as a baseline for searching for biosignatures in exoplanet atmospheres and calibrating the HWO observatory.
