Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Madyar stated in parliament that he would not allow the construction of Ukrainian oil storage facilities on the country's territory, calling the initiative a threat. Meanwhile, MOL claims the process is only in its initial stage and that the government has not been informed.

Naftogaz and MOL signed a memorandum on building oil product storage facilities for Ukraine on Hungarian territory near the border. The decision was made at the C8 Summit against the backdrop of 107+ Russian attacks on fuel infrastructure since the beginning of 2026.
