The fate of the Russo-Ukrainian conflict may be decided in the coming months. This was stated by the Prime Minister of Poland, Donald Tusk, emphasizing that allies must urgently strengthen support for Kyiv. The head of the Polish government shared his forecast following a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on July 29.
Critical Threshold: 50/50 Odds
Tusk outlined a clear timeframe, stating that the next 100 days will be decisive for the outcome of the hostilities. According to him, the chances for both sides are currently balanced at 50/50. This means that even a slight fluctuation in support or a change in strategic course could drastically influence the final outcome of the confrontation.
The Polish leader identified key players capable of shifting the balance of power. He included US President Donald Trump, American billionaire Elon Musk, as well as "certain other people" whose influence on the geopolitical situation remains significant.
Poland's Security and the Ukrainian Sky
Tusk paid special attention to the issues of Warsaw's national security. He stated that Poland's security is directly and unconditionally dependent on the effectiveness of the Ukrainian military's actions, particularly in the airspace. The Prime Minister linked these words to a recent incident where a Russian ballistic missile entered Polish territory during a massive attack on Ukraine.
"If the Ukrainians had much more of what they have been asking for for a long time, perhaps this ballistic missile would not have been launched towards Poland," Tusk noted. He also explained that Polish air defense systems technically could have shot down the missile but did not do so for a number of reasons, which he discussed later.
Warsaw's Promise
Despite the complexity of the situation, the Prime Minister of Poland publicly promised that his country would do everything possible to ensure Ukraine does not lose the war. The missile incident only strengthened his determination to continue supporting Kyiv. In response to the new provocation by the Kremlin, Tusk urgently convened a meeting to assess threats and develop further response measures.
