The Pension Fund of Ukraine has confirmed that in 2026 the age-based compensatory payment for pensioners over 80 amounts to 570 hryvnia per month. This amount is granted automatically upon reaching the corresponding age and does not require a separate application to the institution. According to RBC-Ukraine, the compensation amounts for all three age categories in 2026 remain at the previously established level, making the mechanism predictable for recipients.

Three age categories and exact payment amounts

The state has established three tiers of the age-based compensatory payment. Pensioners aged 70 to 75 receive 300 hryvnia per month, those in the 75 to 80 category receive 456 hryvnia, and upon reaching the age of 80 the top-up increases to 570 hryvnia. It is important to emphasize that this refers specifically to the compensatory component, which is added to the basic pension and does not replace it. Thus, the final monthly payment for a pensioner over 80 may be higher by 570 hryvnia precisely thanks to this mechanism.

Automatic assignment: why no application is required

A key element of the procedure is its automatic nature. When a pensioner reaches the established age, the compensatory payment is assigned in the manner provided for by law, without the need to file a separate application. This means that in the vast majority of cases, a person does not have to initiate the process themselves — it is enough to meet the age criterion and the basic conditions for pension entitlement. This approach reduces the bureaucratic burden on elderly citizens and minimizes the risk of missing payments due to unfamiliarity with the procedure.

What makes up the final pension and why the amounts differ

The size of each individual's pension is formed from several components: the basic part, the individual component, seniority allowances, as well as regional and other top-ups. Therefore, the actual amount a pensioner sees in their account may differ significantly from the "pure" age-based compensation. For example, as RBC-Ukraine previously reported, some pensioners receive a top-up of up to 20% depending on their place of residence. In addition, funds received from charitable organizations are not counted as income and, as a rule, do not affect the size of the pension top-up, although lawyers note a number of conditions under which this rule may not apply.

What to do if the top-up has not been assigned

Despite the automatic nature of the procedure, technical failures or errors in record-keeping are possible in practice. If a pensioner believes that the age-based compensation provided for by law has not been assigned to them, it is recommended to contact the territorial branch of the Pension Fund of Ukraine and request a detailed breakdown of the pension payment. A fund specialist is obliged to check whether the corresponding compensation line is included in the calculation and, if necessary, to adjust the amount from the moment the pensioner became entitled to the payment.

Context: payment stability and prospects

The fact that the compensation amounts in 2026 have not changed compared to the previous period is evidence of the stability of this mechanism. For pensioners, this means that personal budget planning is possible taking into account a fixed top-up. At the same time, experts remind that any changes in pension provision legislation may adjust the assignment conditions, so it is advisable to verify current information on the official website of the Pension Fund of Ukraine or through its contact center.
