On the morning of August 2, an air raid was declared in the Romanian county of Tulcea, which borders Ukraine's Odesa region. The Ministry of Defense's radar surveillance system detected an aerial target near the river border with Ukraine at approximately 09:30.
Public alert and cancellation of the alarm
Alert measures were implemented for the residents of Tulcea county via the RO-Alert system. The National Military Command Center informed the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations of the need to establish public warning measures. A message was sent to the residents of the region.
The aerial target did not enter Romanian airspace and soon disappeared from the radars. The air raid alarm was cancelled by 09:52.
Recurring incidents near the border
This is not the first such incident near the Romanian-Ukrainian border. On July 27, the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared a Russian embassy official persona non grata following a series of airspace violations by drones. The diplomat was given five days to leave the country, and an official protest was presented to the Russian Ambassador in Bucharest.
On July 31, Romanian authorities scrambled two F-16 fighters due to drones detected near the border with Ukraine. Radars recorded a group of aerial targets that entered Romanian airspace for a few seconds before turning back towards Ukraine.

Romanian military forces continue to monitor the situation near the border with Ukraine, where the appearance of unmanned aerial vehicles is regularly recorded. These incidents cause serious concern for both the military and the civilian population in the border regions.
