Semiconductor giant AMD has released its financial results for the third quarter, outperforming preliminary analyst estimates. The company's total revenue reached $13.38 billion compared to $9.25 billion in the same period last year, and net income per share was $2.09. Following these figures, the chipmaker's shares rose by 8% in after-hours trading.
AI Agents Become Main Sales Driver
The key growth driver was the data center chip segment: its share in the company's overall revenue structure increased to 64%. According to management, the rapid rise is driven by high demand for AI agent technology solutions. AMD CEO Lisa Su stated that she expects the server sector to double by 2027.
Consumer Segment Grows, Gaming Declines
The consumer Ryzen processor lineup showed moderate growth of 7%, with this category's financial result reaching $2.949 billion thanks to strong laptop sales. Conversely, the gaming segment shrank by 40%, generating $773 million. The company attributes the decline to falling demand for graphics cards and gaming console chips amid rising prices.
Fourth-Quarter Outlook and Helios Platform
For the fourth quarter, AMD management projects revenue of approximately $17 billion. An additional business boost comes from Helios rack platforms, designed to compete with Nvidia systems: according to the company, major IT corporations are already purchasing the new server complexes.
