American technology giant Apple has officially disclosed key technical features and innovative engineering solutions embedded in the design of its first foldable smartphone, named the iPhone Duo. The device is drawing massive attention from the expert community and users due to fundamentally new approaches to flexible display durability and build quality.

Innovative Solution to the Screen Crease Issue

One of the main problems of all modern foldable smartphones on the market remains the appearance of a noticeable crease and distortion at the inner screen's folding point over time. According to official data presented by Apple's Vice President of Hardware Engineering, Kate Bergeron, the company's engineers have found an elegant and practical way out of this situation. An advanced nanocrystalline coating was specially developed for the iPhone Duo.

If the crease or protective layer begins to cause discomfort to the user or wears out over time, the element can be easily updated. The design provides for the replacement of a special protective layer. Notably, for US device owners with an extended AppleCare+ subscription, the cost of this service procedure will be a symbolic 20 US dollars, making repairs accessible and eliminating the need for an expensive full screen replacement.

Technical Specifications and Body Materials

In addition to the innovative screen, the iPhone Duo stands out with impressive hardware parameters. The peak brightness of the inner display reaches a record 3,000 nits, and the contrast ratio is 2,000,000:1, providing a vivid and detailed picture under any lighting conditions. The device's body is made of high-strength titanium, while the front and rear panels are protected by proprietary Ceramic Shield glass.

The device's dimensions are also optimized for daily use: in the unfolded state, the body thickness is only 5.2 mm, and when folded, it is 11.3 mm with a total weight of 254 grams. Apple continues to set standards in the premium mobile technology segment, offering users a combination of maximum performance, durability, and thoughtful maintainability.
