In August 2025, there is no universal pension increase planned in Ukraine. However, payments will be automatically increased for a specific category of citizens. This refers to age-related supplements, which are accrued to elderly people upon reaching a certain age.
This information was confirmed by the Main Department of the Pension Fund in the Kirovohrad region, citing RBC-Ukraine.
How the age supplement works
A monthly compensatory supplement is established for pensioners who have crossed the age thresholds of 70, 75, or 80 years. The amount of the payment depends directly on the specific age category. The recalculation process itself takes place in automatic mode, so there is no need to submit new applications to the Pension Fund authorities (PFU).
The main condition for receiving the supplement is that the total amount of the current pension must not exceed 10,340.35 hryvnias. When calculating this limit, not only the basic payment is taken into account, but also all supplements, indexations, and other payments provided by law.
Features of accrual in August
It is important to understand that the age supplement is not appointed from the first day of the month, but from the day the pensioner actually reaches the corresponding age. This means that in the month of birth, the payment may be partial.
For example, if a pensioner's birthday falls on August 18, then for this month they will receive a supplement only for the period after the date of birth. The full amount, taking into account the supplement, will be paid out in September.
Calculation mechanics
The age supplement is not a fixed amount that is simply added to the pension. It is calculated as the difference between the limit established by law for the given age group and the current size of the payment.
Let's consider a situation as an example: if a pensioner after 70 years already receives a supplement of 300 hryvnias, then upon reaching 75 years, they will not receive the full amount of 756 hryvnias. In this case, the amount of the supplement will simply increase to 456 hryvnias so that the total amount corresponds to the new threshold. A similar principle applies when reaching the age of 80, when the total amount of the age supplement should be 570 hryvnias.
Where to check your payments
You can get up-to-date information about the amount of the pension and all its components through the personal cabinet on the web portal of electronic services of the Pension Fund of Ukraine. If the citizen meets all the established conditions, the age supplement will be appointed automatically without the need for a personal visit to the PFU authorities.
Earlier, it was reported that certain categories of citizens have the right to receive other supplements. For example, there is a payment of about 1000 hryvnias, which is not appointed automatically and requires the submission of documents. Also, residents of certain mountain regions of Ukraine have the right to a supplement of 20% to the pension.
