Ukraine has launched a mass campaign to register young men who have reached or will reach the age of 17 for military service. A strict deadline has been set for the 2009 generation: the procedure must be completed by July 31 of the current year.
This information was confirmed by the Volyn Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Policy (TCR and SP), announcing the start of the active registration phase. Operational data is also provided by the publication RBC-Ukraine.
Digitalization of military registration
The modern system allows registration without queues at paper terminals. Young men can complete the paperwork via the 'Reserve+' mobile app or the 'Diia' state portal. After successfully passing all data verification stages, the system automatically generates an electronic military registration document (e-Military ID).
This digital document has legal force. It can be presented to educational institutions either in electronic form on a smartphone screen or in printed format. This simplifies bureaucratic processes for students and applicants.
Mandatory requirement for education
Having a military registration document has become not just a formality but a mandatory condition for continuing one's education. Enrollment in educational institutions is impossible without proof of registration. This requirement applies to all young men of the corresponding age seeking further education.
Changes in legislation and regulations
Parallel to the campaign to register 17-year-olds, other aspects of the mobilization system in Ukraine are changing. In particular, the procedure for checking data for the automatic extension of mobilization deferment for parents of children with disabilities has been changed. The system now uses updated algorithms for cross-checking information in state registries.
Also, the rules for deferment (broming) that will take effect in 2026 have been updated. For private companies, the criteria for granting the status of a critically important enterprise have been revised, and the requirements for employee salary levels have been tightened.
