The National Bank of Ukraine has officially published the current foreign exchange rates for Monday, October 12, 2026. Following a brief and minor decline last week, both key global currencies demonstrated steady growth against the Ukrainian hryvnia. Financial analysts note that such fluctuations fit within the regulator's current monetary policy aimed at smoothing out sharp spikes and maintaining macroeconomic stability.

Official Exchange Rates for October 12

According to the National Bank of Ukraine, the US dollar exchange rate for October 12 is set at 44.88 UAH. Compared to the previous figures from October 9, when the American currency was valued at 44.85 UAH, the increase amounted to 3 kopecks. At the same time, the European currency showed a more dynamic growth: the official euro exchange rate increased by 18 kopecks at once. If on October 9 the euro cost 50.13 UAH, for Monday the regulator fixed the rate at 50.31 UAH. Experts attribute this difference in dynamics to cross-rate fluctuations in global markets.

Methodology for Calculating the Consumer Price Index

In addition to official currency reports, the National Bank of Ukraine explained in detail the mechanism for forming a key macroeconomic indicator — the Consumer Price Index (CPI). This index serves as the main indicator of inflation and reflects the real dynamics of changes in the cost of a fixed basket of goods and services. Responsibility for calculating the CPI in the country lies with the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, whose specialists monitor prices continuously across all regions of the state.

What Is Included in the State Statistics Consumer Basket

The data collection process is comprehensive and labor-intensive. Every month, State Statistics Service experts track price changes for more than 300 items of goods and services. This representative list includes basic food products, clothing and footwear, household appliances, housing and communal services, and transport transportation. Each position is assigned an individual weight depending on its share in the total expenditures of households, which makes it possible to obtain the most objective picture of inflation processes in the country.
