Drone Struck the "We – Ukraine" TV Channel Building in Kyiv During a Live Broadcast

In Kyiv, a strike drone hit the building of the "We – Ukraine" TV channel at the very moment journalists were going live on the "United News" telethon. The attack took place during the daytime; as a result, the building was partially destroyed, emergency services were on the scene, and the fire that broke out after the impact was put out by State Emergency Service (SES) personnel. This was announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, according to RBC-Ukraine.

What happened

According to available information, a "Shahed"-type drone struck the TV channel's building. At the moment of the impact, a live broadcast of the "United News" telethon was underway in the studio, meaning the journalists were on camera. The structure sustained partial damage: the structures and walls were damaged, and all necessary services were working amid the rubble. The fire that broke out after the impact was extinguished by employees of the State Emergency Service.

Casualties

As of the time of publication, five people are known to have been injured as a result of the attack on the TV channel. The President of Ukraine emphasized that this figure may still increase, as the consequences of the strike continue to be assessed. Medics and rescuers continued to work at the scene.

Zelenskyy's reaction

"Shaheds against the media – this is a new page in Russia's degradation, and Europe and the world must certainly respond to this," the head of state stated. He added that no strike on Ukraine and Ukrainians should go unpunished, and that Russia must be stopped, which is possible only through joint efforts.

Context of the attacks on the capital

It is worth recalling that on the same day, an enemy drone struck an office building in Kyiv's Solomianskyi district, where a fire broke out due to fallen debris. Medical teams were called to the injured in two districts of the capital, indicating the scale of the daytime wave of drone attacks.

Moscow's position

Meanwhile, the Kremlin declared Russia's alleged readiness for peace with Ukraine, while adding that the further development of the situation depends on Kyiv. Moscow also expressed hope for the resumption of trilateral negotiations with the participation of the United States. These statements came against the backdrop of ongoing strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure and media.
