At an air defense meeting, Zelensky set the task of raising the interception rate of Russian drones above 90% by autumn. In four days, Russia deployed around 1,500 UAVs, of which 800 were jet-powered.

Ukrainian presidential adviser Serhiy "Flash" Beskrestnov stated that more than 2,500 jet-powered Shaheds were launched across the country in August, and around 1,500 in July. In his words, the drones go into attack almost immediately after rolling off the factory line.

According to the co-founder of Contra-Drone, Russia is increasing the use of fiber-optic drones, purchasing 20-channel CRPA antennas in China for Shaheds, and developing AI terminal guidance for FPV drones, thereby complicating the work of Ukrainian EW.

In an interview with RBC-Ukraine, Contra-Drone co-founder Tymofiy Yurkov explained how the growth in the number of channels in CRPA antennas up to 20, fiber-optic drones, and AI terminal guidance are changing Ukrainian EW tactics and requiring a reconfiguration of the defense of energy facilities.

On August 27, Russian occupiers struck Roshen's warehouse in Chubynske, Kyiv Oblast, with seven Shahed drones. The company lost part of its products, and disruptions to certain items are possible.

During the night of August 27, debris fell in Kyiv's Podilskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts, including in the courtyard of a residential building and on the grounds of an educational institution. At the same time, Zaporizhzhia, the Poltava region, and Kryvyi Rih came under attack.

On August 25, 2026, Japan's ATLA agency signed a contract to procure the Terra B1 drone interceptor to counter Shahed-type UAVs. The first deliveries will go to Japan's Maritime Self-Defense Force, with the system potentially later transferred to the Air and Ground Self-Defense Forces.

On the night of August 26, Russia attacked Ukraine with 162 attack drones from five directions. Air defense shot down 134 aircraft, however hits were recorded at 18 locations and there were casualties.

On the night of August 24–25, Russia attacked Ukraine with missiles and drones. By 09:00, air defense forces had neutralized 124 UAVs, impacts were recorded at 17 locations, and a border crossing on the Moldovan border was temporarily closed.

On the night of 23 August, Russia attacked Ukraine with 127 attack drones from seven directions. Air defense shot down 97 drones, and 27 impacts were recorded at 22 locations.
