Law enforcement authorities in Volgograd detained three residents — two young women and one young man — for filming the aftermath of a drone attack on a Wildberries marketplace warehouse. This was reported by the publication Meduza, citing a V1.ru article that published a video of the detainees' apologies.
Filming the aftermath of the attack led to detention
The names of the detainees have not been disclosed. According to sources, one of the women sent a photo of the fire to a building-wide chat, while the other sent it to a city-wide chat. The third participant — a young man — was also recorded filming or distributing the materials.
As V1.ru claims, each of the detainees will face liability, including fines of up to one million rubles. However, the publications do not specify whether protocols have already been drawn up or if the case is still under investigation.
Not the first case in the region
This is not the first detention in Volgograd for filming the aftermath of drone strikes. At the end of June, at least four people were detained — their interrogations were also broadcast via V1.ru. At that time, the individuals also admitted to filming and distributing materials related to the attacks.
The situation raises questions among local residents and human rights defenders: where is the line between documenting events and violating the law? So far, there are no official comments from the police or the prosecutor's office.
