The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center has released an updated weather forecast for the next three days, from Friday, November 6, to Sunday, November 8, 2026. According to the UHM Center, a noticeable cold front is approaching the country: precipitation will increase, and in several regions, rain will be replaced by wet snow. A north-westerly wind with speeds of 7–12 m/s is expected throughout the period.

Friday, November 6: rain with wet snow and first frosts in the mountains

On Friday, November 6, light rain, mixed with wet snow in some places, is likely in most regions of Ukraine. Air temperatures throughout the day and night will range between 0 and +6 °C. It will be coolest in the Carpathians and Transcarpathia, where thermometers are expected to drop to −1…−6 °C at night, meaning light frost is expected in some areas. The wind will remain north-westerly at 7–12 m/s.

Saturday, November 7: snow in most regions

On Saturday, November 7, forecasters predict light snow in most regions of Ukraine. Thus, solid precipitation will cover a significantly larger area than on Friday. The wind will not change direction or speed: north-westerly, 7–12 m/s. While the UHM Center report does not detail temperatures for Saturday, the general trend toward cooling persists.

Sunday, November 8: a break with no precipitation

On Sunday, November 8, the weather in most of Ukraine is expected to be clear of precipitation. This will serve as a brief "respite" before potential new atmospheric fronts arrive. The wind remains north-westerly at 7–12 m/s. Consequently, the three-day period from November 6 to 8 will be the first this year for many regions where snow will fall not only in the mountains but also on the plains.

Context: first snow in Ukraine and neighboring countries

It is worth noting that the first snow of the 2026–2027 season was already recorded much earlier in the mountainous regions of Ukraine: snowflakes fell in the Carpathians on September 22. According to the Hungarian meteorological portal vaol.hu, the first snowfall in neighboring Hungary is expected between November 22 and 23, with temperatures dropping below freezing around November 23–26. Forecasters emphasize that long-term forecasts are not exact and are subject to change. Vira Balabukh, head of the Department of Applied Meteorology and Climatology at the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Institute, previously noted that November in Ukraine is traditionally characterized by high weather variability and early snowfall in mountainous districts.

Recommendations and forecast limitations

Meteorologists remind that the three-day forecast issued by the UHM Center may be updated as the dates approach. Residents of plain regions where the first snow is expected are advised to prepare for potential reduced visibility on roads and icy conditions. In the mountainous regions of the Carpathians and Transcarpathia, where frosts have already arrived, one should be ready for sharper temperature fluctuations and heavier snowfall in the coming days.
