Starting January 1, 2026, Heroes of Ukraine are entitled to a monthly pension supplement of 1,038 hryvnias. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the Pension Fund of Ukraine. The payment serves as a pension for special merits to the state and is assigned in addition to the main pension rather than replacing it.

What the Supplement Entails

We are talking specifically about a pension supplement for special merits to Ukraine. The Pension Fund emphasized that this payment is not a separate pension and is not equated to a monthly payment of three minimum wages. Different payment rules may apply to certain categories of individuals, so it is important to clarify the conditions for your specific case when applying.

Who Can Receive the Bonus

The right to the supplement belongs to Heroes of Ukraine who simultaneously have the right to an old-age pension, disability pension, survivor's pension, or length-of-service pension. Thus, the title of Hero of Ukraine provides not only state recognition but also a specific financial bonus which, according to the fund, many people are unaware of.

How to Apply for the Payment

To receive the supplement, you must apply to the Pension Fund of Ukraine with a statement and the necessary package of documents. The decision on granting the supplement is made within 10 days, and the period is calculated from the day of submitting the application with all required documents.

Simplified Length-of-Service Confirmation

As a reminder, Ukraine has simplified the procedure for confirming work experience for pension assignment in cases where the labor book is lost or contains inaccuracies. In such a situation, a person can provide other supporting documents, and in their absence, testimonies from at least two witnesses who worked together with them.

Additional Benefits for Veterans

Separately, the Pension Fund and specialized agencies remind that military personnel and veterans are entitled to discounts on utility services. Combat participants are provided with a 75% discount, and persons with disabilities resulting from war receive a 100% discount within established standards.
