On July 15, a massive destabilization of the power grid occurred in occupied Crimea. As a result of a new attack by the Ukrainian Defense Forces using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), Kerch and several districts of the peninsula were left without electricity.
Local occupation authorities confirmed the incident. RBC-Ukraine, citing the ASTRA Telegram channel, reports that strikes on power supply facilities have led to a critical situation in the power grids.
Situation in Kerch
The most severe consequences were recorded in Kerch. Ivan Koshel, a representative of the city administration, stated that the settlement is completely without power. According to him, critical life-support facilities have been switched to backup power sources. All city services have been mobilized for emergency restoration work to eliminate the consequences of the attack.
Restrictions across the peninsula
"Krymenergo" reported that strikes by Ukrainian drones caused damage to power supply facilities in the North-Western and Eastern power districts. As a result, some settlements in these zones were left without light. Representatives of the energy holding company assured residents that all possible measures are being taken to restore electricity supply.
As of the morning of July 15, power supply restrictions are in effect across the entire peninsula. "Krymenergo" warned that outages will be conducted in an operational mode depending on the situation in the power districts. At the same time, authorities admitted it is impossible to inform the population of the exact time for the resumption of network operations.
Water supply problems
The accident in the power system led to malfunctions in the water utility. The State Unitary Enterprise of the Republic of Crimea "Voda Kryma" officially confirmed a drop in pressure in the water supply networks. Water problems have been recorded in nine districts of the occupied peninsula.
