Status of public utilities
As a result of the attack, a distribution gas pipeline was damaged, leaving part of the city temporarily without gas supply. Utility services are working to address the consequences and restore the supply of the resource. It has been officially confirmed that it was the gas infrastructure, and not the water supply, that was damaged.
Context of the night attack on Ukraine
The strike on Konotop was part of a large-scale night attack that Russia launched on Ukrainian territory on August 25. According to available data, the enemy employed an Iskander-M ballistic missile, a Kh-31P guided missile, and around 150 Shahed-type strike drones. As of 09:00, air defense forces had neutralized 124 enemy drones, with impacts recorded in 17 locations. Due to the same night attack, the operation of the international border crossing point "Vinohradivka — Vulcani" on the border with Moldova has been temporarily suspended: the crossing's infrastructure was damaged, and cross-border movement is currently not taking place.

Konotop Mayor Artem Semenykhin stated that Russia, having failed to achieve success on the battlefield, continues to terrorize the civilian population. He expressed gratitude that everyone remained alive after the strike. The Sumy Regional Military Administration and Ukrzaliznytsia are continuing to assess the scale of the damage and coordinate the work on restoring the city's infrastructure.
