Emergency power outages are currently in effect in Kyiv, as well as the Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Chernihiv, and Cherkasy oblasts. According to energy providers, five queues have been shut down in these regions. The most critical situation remains in the capital, where restrictions are being applied to prevent a drop in voltage levels within the power grid.
Where Emergency Outages Have Been Introduced
Emergency schedules cover Kyiv and four adjacent oblasts — Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Chernihiv, and Cherkasy. Five queues have been disconnected in these regions, which means larger-scale and longer periods without power compared to standard hourly schedules. This specific scheme is utilized when grid loads exceed acceptable parameters and an urgent reduction in consumption is required.
Reason for Restrictions and Daily Dynamics
According to energy workers, emergency outages are introduced to prevent voltage drops in the power grid. The situation is particularly difficult in Kyiv, which is why outage schedules may change frequently throughout the day. Operators emphasize that during emergency restrictions, pre-announced hourly schedules do not apply, and a return to predictable blackout schemes will occur immediately after the grid situation stabilizes.
Zhytomyr: Economy Mode and Suspension of Electric Transport
In Zhytomyr, an electricity-saving mode has been introduced due to significant damage to the energy system following strikes. Citizens are asked to limit consumption during peak hours, and public electric transport in the city has been temporarily suspended. These measures aim to reduce the load on the damaged grid and prevent cascading failures.
SES Mobile Assistance Points Starting November 6
Starting November 6, the State Emergency Service (SES) will begin deploying mobile assistance points in settlements where more than 30,000 families have been left without electricity for over 24 hours. Each tent will be equipped with a generator and heat cannons, with police crews stationed nearby. These points are designed to provide basic conditions—heat and device recharging capabilities—for residents experiencing prolonged power outages.
What Energy Workers Are Doing
Energy workers are continuously working to stabilize the situation in the power grid in order to return to predictable outage schedules. According to their statement, emergency restrictions are a temporary measure, and a return to standard hourly blackout schemes will happen as soon as grid parameters stabilize.
