New strict restrictions on vehicle traffic across the Dnipro River bridges have been introduced in Kyiv. The decision was made against the backdrop of an ongoing series of air attacks affecting key transport arteries of the Ukrainian capital.

New Rules for Crossing the Dnipro

According to the published regulations, traffic on the Podilskyi Bridge Crossing will be temporarily blocked for up to 15 minutes after the air raid alert starts when traveling from the left bank to the right bank. Similar targeted measures affected the Pivденний (Southern) Bridge, where traffic flows will be stopped when moving from the right bank to the left during the first 15 minutes of the alert.

Detour Organization and Logistics

City authorities have detailed alternative routes for motorists. In particular, access to the bridge towards the left bank is now carried out from Stolychne Highway, Prydniprovske Highway, and the Vydubychi bus station area. Meanwhile, traffic across other bridge crossings in Kyiv over the Dnipro functions normally without total closures.

Chronology of Bridge Strikes

The infrastructure security situation sharply escalated in early October 2026. On the morning of October 3, Russian forces launched a drone strike on the Pivnichnyi (Northern) Bridge, damaging the road surface and trolleybus contact network, and injuring two people. Earlier, on October 1 and 2, other crossings, including the Southern Bridge, were also targeted, causing structural damage to road surfaces and protective barriers.
