Petro Panteleev, Acting First Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA), stated that it will take approximately 10 days to fully deploy the heating system and supply heat to Kyiv's residential buildings. According to him, the countdown began on November 2, when the capital began connecting residential buildings to the heating network. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing a briefing at the KCSA.
Simultaneous Launch in All Districts of the Capital
The KCSA emphasized that at the current stage, no differentiation between Kyiv's districts is planned: heating is being launched simultaneously in all administrative districts of the capital. This means that no single district receives priority access to heat at the initial stage, and the process is unfolding synchronously throughout the city. This approach, according to city officials, is intended to ensure uniform connection of consumers and avoid a situation where some residents wait for heat significantly longer than others.
Context: Consequences of Attacks on Energy Infrastructure
The launch of heating in Kyiv is taking place against the backdrop of the city preparing for a difficult winter following Russian strikes on energy facilities. According to RBC-Ukraine sources, TEC-5, TEC-6, and the Darnytska TEC have stopped generating electricity. This significantly impacts the overall heating and electricity supply situation in the capital and requires utility services to adapt to operations under limited capacity. Under these conditions, city officials state, full restoration and deployment of the system takes about ten days.
Timeline of the 2025/2026 Heating Season
The heating season in Kyiv began on October 16. According to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, heat was first supplied to socially significant facilities—hospitals, kindergartens, and schools. The connection of residential buildings to the heating system began on November 2. A similar start date for the residential phase has been recorded in a number of other Ukrainian cities, where a similar launch occurred on the same day.
Monitoring: Up-to-Date Connection Data
Petro Panteleev announced that updated information regarding the percentage of buildings already receiving heat will be released daily at 11:00 AM. Thus, the city administration intends to maintain public monitoring of the connection progress over the course of all ten days, so that residents can track exactly when heat will reach their homes. The next few days, according to the KCSA, will be key to completing the full cycle of connecting Kyiv's residential housing stock to the heating system.
