In a column for Wave RBC.UA, coach Olga Grytsyk explains why catastrophizing winter blackouts in August does more harm than real preparation, and offers concrete steps instead of anxiety.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal stated that Ukraine is preparing its power grid for a difficult winter: new shelters have been built, recovery times shortened, and nearly 6,000 tons of equipment dispatched from hubs.

Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal stated that Ukraine's power grid is operating stably and planned outages are not being applied, however, the situation may change due to the intensity of Russian strikes on the energy sector.

The Kyiv city hall is verifying the needs of elderly and immobile residents before the heating season: already more than 1,200 pensioners and 400 children with disabilities are ready for temporary relocation in case of power or heat outages.

People's Deputy Mykhailo Bondar warned that the blockade of the Chervonohrad BPP threatens the heating season. The Lviv court must appoint an independent manager to unblock the plant's operations and ensure energy security.
