On the morning of October 8, 2026, the capital of Ukraine suffered another massive attack by enemy drones. According to official information from Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, debris fell in an open area within the Holosiivskyi district as a result of the strikes, causing damage to infrastructure objects. Emergency services, rescuers, and medics promptly arrived at the scene to assist the victims.
Consequences of the Morning Strike
During the aftermath of the morning shelling, it became clear that the attack had resulted in casualties. The Mayor of Kyiv confirmed the death of one person. In addition, according to updated data from the city administration, at least five people were injured. Four of them were urgently hospitalized by ambulance crews to city medical facilities, where they are receiving all necessary care.
Scale of the Night Raid and Destruction
This attack was part of a larger air raid: on the night of October 8, Russian forces used nearly 150 drones of various types to strike Ukrainian territory. The massive strike also affected other regions of the country. In particular, tragic news continues to come from Pryluky, where the death toll from a previous strike on a multi-story residential building has risen to 22 people, with rescue operations still underway at the site.
Economic and Infrastructural Damage
Experts and city authorities highlight not only the humanitarian but also the colossal economic cost of the ongoing shelling. Previously, Mayor Vitali Klitschko stated that each such large-scale air attack on the capital costs the city infrastructure and budget approximately 500 million hryvnias. Restoring damaged buildings, utilities, and road surfaces requires the mobilization of significant resources.
