The National Association of the Defense Industry of Ukraine (NAUDI) has appealed to Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky with a request to prevent a reduction in reservation quotas for employees of defense enterprises. The association warns that this could lead to the loss of scarce specialists and weaken manufacturers' capabilities to supply weapons to the Ukrainian military.

Context and Association Position

Head of the association Serhiy Pashinsky stated that he appealed to the prime minister due to attempts by the Ministry of Economy to lower the reservation percentage for defense enterprise workers. In the appeal dated October 12, the association cautions that reducing reservations could lead to the loss of scarce specialists, slow down weapons development, and delay the launch of new production facilities.

Economic and Military Impact

According to industry estimates provided in the letter, defense industry workers account for no more than 10% of all reserved personnel in Ukraine. Pashinsky noted that unreserving a few thousand people will not solve mobilization issues for the Defense Forces, but will unequivocally undermine the ability to supply weapons and ammunition to the frontline.

Contradictory Data

While the Ministry of Economy argues for the necessity of adjusting reservation thresholds down from 100% to 85% to balance mobilization efforts, defense sector representatives and the Ministry of Defense emphasize the critical risks to ongoing weapons manufacturing. NAUDI, uniting over 180 producers, insists that the defense sector must remain fully protected from such bureaucratic changes.

Conclusions and Outlook

NAUDI has called on the Prime Minister to intervene and prevent decisions that bear signs of sabotage against national security and the country's defense efforts, highlighting the crucial need to preserve engineering and production personnel.
