Ukraine has approved a new procedure for motivational payments for military personnel of the National Guard, the State Border Guard Service, and special units of the police. Depending on the complexity and danger of combat missions, the amount of additional remuneration can reach 460,000 UAH per month.
This was reported by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Ivan Vykovsky, in his Telegram channel. According to him, the relevant orders have already been signed and submitted for state registration. After completing this procedure, the documents will be officially published and come into force.
New motivation mechanism
According to Vykovsky, the new mechanism provides for a differentiated approach to payments. The amount of remuneration will depend on the complexity, danger, and results of performing combat missions. This is an experimental project aimed at improving the efficiency of the MIA system units in the conditions of a full-scale war.
The Minister emphasized that the tasks of MIA units have changed significantly. Today, border guards, national guardsmen, and police officers participate in the most complex combat operations, assaults, and hold the most difficult sections of the front together with other units of the Defense Forces.
Retroactive accrual
An important aspect of the new order is that the accrual of the provided payments will be made retroactively — starting from June 1, 2026. This means that military personnel will receive compensation for periods when they were already performing combat missions according to the new criteria.
Comparison with other categories
Recall that earlier, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine explained the payment conditions for military personnel not involved in combat missions and serving in rear areas. Such employees receive additional remuneration in the amount of 10,000 UAH, which is accrued to the main monetary allowance. Thanks to this surcharge, the total monthly income of such military personnel is at least 30,000 UAH.
New motivational payments for MIA units are intended to ensure a fair distribution of resources and recognition of the special contribution of those who are on the front line and perform the most risky tasks.
