The end of July marked a turning point for the shelves of Ukrainian stores. The supermarket chain carried out a large-scale update of price lists, affecting basic food products. Shoppers encountered a new price reality as early as Tuesday, July 28, when data was updated in the country's largest retail chains.

Two sides of the same coin: discounts and price hikes

The situation in the food market during this period is characterized by divergent price movements. On the one hand, consumers have been given the opportunity to purchase buckwheat and sunflower oil at updated, more attractive promotional offers. On the other hand, the cost of traditional "folk" products — bread and eggs — has shown an upward trend in a number of retail chains.

Price overview in the largest chains

RBC-Ukraine analysts monitored prices for basic food products on Tuesday, July 28. The review included the largest market players: "Silpo", ATB, Novus, and "Auchan". The study showed that despite fluctuations, food prices in Ukrainian supermarkets remain among the lowest offers as of the end of the month.

The price dynamics of bread and eggs attract special attention from economists and consumers, while promotional items on cereals and vegetable oils allow for balancing the family budget. Shoppers are advised to closely monitor price tag updates in specific stores, as offers may vary depending on the retail chain.
