For many Ukrainians whose pension payments remain at a modest level, any additional financial support is crucial. The Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU) has clarified the conditions for receiving a significant pension supplement for those supporting incapacitated relatives. In 2026, the amount of such a supplement can reach almost 1300 UAH.

Who is eligible for the payment

According to the fund, the increase in payments concerns military pensioners who have family members who have lost their ability to work. However, the right to receive the supplement arises only if three key conditions are met simultaneously:

  • The pensioner must support incapacitated close relatives (children or other relatives).
  • The relative for whom the supplement is being claimed must not receive their own pension, state disability assistance, or benefits for single mothers.
  • The pensioner must confirm that they are not working or serving in the military.

An important nuance is the situation where two or more pensioners live in the same household and care for one incapacitated relative. In this case, the supplement will be paid to only one of them, at their own discretion.

Amount of the supplement in 2026

The supplement for minor children and other dependents is calculated as half of the minimum for incapacitated persons. For 2026, this amount is 1297.5 UAH. The supplement is established individually for each family member supported by the pensioner.

How to apply for the payment

The Pension Fund emphasizes that this supplement is not accrued automatically. Citizens who meet the criteria must independently contact a PFU branch with an application. The following documents must be attached to the package:

  • Passport of the applicant.
  • Documents confirming the family relationship with the incapacitated relative.
  • Certificates of residence at the same address.
  • Proof of actual support of the relative.

Recall that the minimum pension amount for veterans of combat operations (VCO) in 2026 cannot be lower than 6197 UAH. A higher minimum threshold is set for persons with disabilities, and other types of supplements are provided for Ukrainian defenders.
