Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, during a press conference in Lublin, confirmed that Warsaw will continue to provide military support to Kyiv, despite the recent airspace violation incident. Specifically, this concerns the delivery of new missiles for Patriot air defense systems.
Decisive 100 Days
Speaking to journalists, Tusk emphasized the critical importance of the coming period. According to him, the next 100 days could be decisive for the outcome of the war. The Prime Minister highlighted Poland's readiness to shoulder this burden, regardless of internal political debates.
"I am aware of the different burdens falling on Poland, but whether anyone likes it or not — we will do everything possible to help Ukraine," the head of government stated.
Details of the Incident in Lublin
The press conference took place against the backdrop of a nighttime incident when a Russian missile violated Polish airspace and landed in the Lublin Voivodeship. Tusk reported that there is no reason to believe that Poland was the specific target of the attack, however, two Russian objects entered the country's airspace.
According to data, during the massive Russian attack, which became one of the largest in the entire conflict, Polish military forces recorded more than 20 cruise missiles near the border. One of them, likely an Kh-101, fell near the village of Tarnawa-Kolonia.
Tusk spoke about the military's actions: soldiers were ordered to shoot down the missile if it flew towards residential areas. Fortunately, the munition landed in an undeveloped area, which allowed avoiding casualties and destruction.
International Investigation
The head of the Polish government noted that he is in constant contact with the leaders of European countries. It was also noted that the American side has shown interest in participating in the investigation of the circumstances of the incident.
