The night of August 1 proved tragic for the Ukrainian capital. As a result of a missile attack carried out by the Russian Armed Forces, three people were killed in Kyiv, and five others were injured. According to the city mayor's office, data received around 3 a.m. suggests that the number of casualties may increase as rescue operations conclude.
Destruction in residential areas
The main impact was felt in several administrative districts of the city. The most severe destruction was recorded in the Shevchenkivskyi district. There, a ballistic missile or its debris struck a residential building. Partial collapse of structures on the first and second floors occurred, trapping people inside the building.
In the same Shevchenkivskyi district, a fire broke out at a car wash. The fire was quickly contained, but significant damage was inflicted on the infrastructure.
The situation also worsened in the Solomianskyi district. Debris fell on a five-story residential building, trapping residents. A fire also started in the courtyard of the building, requiring the immediate intervention of fire crews. Rescuers worked to evacuate people from under the rubble and extinguish the fire.
Consequences in other parts of the city
The fall of debris and the aftermath of the attack were also recorded in the Holosiivskyi and Darnytskyi districts. In these areas, missile fragments fell on non-residential sites, which, fortunately, did not lead to mass casualties among the population, but required damage assessment and rubble clearance.
Emergency services response
Medical personnel and rescuers worked around the clock. All five injured persons, including minors, were hospitalized in nearby medical facilities. Ambulance crews and fire teams were on duty at the scene, ensuring safety and providing first aid.
