On the night of October 2, Russian forces launched a large-scale aerial attack across Ukraine, deploying strike drones of various modifications along four main directions. Ukraine's air defense forces once again faced an intense workload, repelling an unprecedentedly large-scale raid that affected several regions of the country, including the capital.

Scale and Directions of the Nighttime Strike

According to official data from the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the enemy used 108 strike drones during the nighttime raid. Among the weapons deployed were 47 jet-powered Shahed drones, as well as Gerbera UAVs and Parodiya decoy drones. The launches of the aerial attack assets were carried out from the territory of the Russian Federation from the areas of Bryansk and Primorsko-Akhtarsk, as well as from the temporarily occupied territories of the Donetsk region and the Crimean peninsula (Gvardeyskoe airfield).

Air Defense Combat Performance and Impact of Strikes

As of 08:00 AM, Ukrainian air defense forces successfully shot down or jammed 88 enemy drones of various types using electronic warfare equipment. However, hits could not be entirely avoided. Direct impacts of enemy aerial attack weapons were recorded at 11 locations, while falling debris caused destruction in 5 other spots.

Situation in Kyiv and Regional Damage

The most severe consequences of the attack were recorded in Kyiv. In the Darnytskyi district of the capital, a 25-சரி apartment building was damaged as a result of the enemy strike, resulting in casualties: one person was killed and two others sustained injuries of varying severity. In addition, the South Bridge in Kyiv was targeted again, having been attacked the previous day as well. In the Holosiivskyi district, debris fell on an open area, damaging the windows of a non-residential building and several cars; no fires or injuries were reported.

Contradictory Data

It is worth noting that in the information space and various reports from specialized publications, data on the scale of the nighttime attack's repulsion may vary. For instance, some sources citing alternative operational summaries reported up to 141 aerial targets hit during the same period, which is attributed to the continuous nature of the air raid alert, ongoing activity of small drone groups in airspace, and specific calculation methods for overlapping attack waves recorded near borders and border regions.
