Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, during a visit to the United States, voiced a worrying forecast regarding Moscow's actions. According to him, the Russian leadership may be preparing a large-scale false flag operation using Ukrainian drones. This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the Polsat News channel.
The "False Flag" Scenario with Ukrainian Involvement
Sikorski confirmed that Warsaw expects such a move from the Kremlin. The key element of this scenario involves drones that could be used to attack the territory of a NATO member state or Russia itself to provoke a retaliatory response. The minister noted that Vladimir Putin himself hinted at such a strategy about a month ago.
"Putin even said something similar about a month ago. He stated: if a NATO member country attacks us, we will respond. Therefore, we suspect that he plans to prepare Ukrainian drones and use them to attack a NATO member country or Russia, and then respond to such an attack," Polsat News quotes Sikorski.
In the opinion of the Polish diplomat, the dictator resorts to such desperate measures because he is losing the war. Sikorski drew a historical parallel with the Gleiwitz provocation of 1939, when Abwehr agents in Polish uniforms seized a radio station to justify the invasion of Nazi Germany. "Our message to Vladimir Putin is this: we know what you are planning, do not do it," the minister warned.
Hybrid War and Information Attacks
In addition to the threat of kinetic provocations, Sikorski emphasized the active hybrid war that Russia is waging against European countries, including Poland and France. Western intelligence has data indicating that the Kremlin is preparing new sabotage operations in Europe. At the same time, Warsaw believes that publicly disclosing these plans should serve as a preemptive measure to deter Moscow from aggression.
A separate area of activity for Russian special services is directed at information campaigns. According to the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Moscow is betting on millions of internet trolls to provoke conflicts between Kyiv and Warsaw. The enemy intentionally stirs up emotions around historical disputes, trying to sow discord among allies.
In these information attacks, according to the Polish side, top Kremlin officials are openly involved, including Dmitry Medvedev and Maria Zakharova. Sikorski also emphasized that Russia currently lacks the resources to launch a full-scale military attack on Poland, and Putin is ultimately losing the war against Ukraine.
