On the morning of August 28, 2026, a person was killed in Buchanskyi district of Kyiv Oblast as a result of an enemy attack. This was announced by Timur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, in his official statement, as cited by RBC-Ukraine. According to him, another man sustained multiple shrapnel wounds and was urgently hospitalized at a local hospital. In Fastivskyi district, a woman was injured in the same strike — she sustained lacerations to her arm.

Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Disinformation Counteraction Center, commented on the nature of the attacks on Kyiv Oblast, noting that strikes by reactive drones, delivered in waves and triggering regular air raid alerts, pursue a clear goal — to exhaust air defense missile systems and to exert psychological pressure on the civilian population. In his assessment, such tactics allow the aggressor to keep air defense resources under constant strain and reduce the system's readiness to repel larger-scale strikes.
Repeated strikes on objects being extinguished
RBC-Ukraine also reported that in the Bilohorodna community of Kyiv Oblast, the Russians attacked the warehouses of Nova Poshta. After the first hit on the facility, the enemy delivered two more strikes on the same location while firefighters and rescue services were extinguishing the fire. According to the outlet, such a tactic of repeatedly shelling already damaged and extinguished objects has been recorded before and poses a serious threat to emergency service personnel.
Strike on "Episenter" in Zaporizhzhia
On the same day, on the morning of August 28, the aggressor struck the "Episenter" shopping center in Zaporizhzhia. As a result of the attack, the building was damaged and one person was injured. As RBC-Ukraine notes, this is not the first shelling of this facility during the period of hostilities, which indicates the deliberate nature of strikes on civilian infrastructure and objects of the population's daily life.
