Powerful explosions were heard in Izium on the morning of July 24. The city was subjected to an attack using aviation bombs, resulting in damage to critical infrastructure and civilian objects. According to the Izium City Military Administration, the enemy used three guided aviation bombs (KAB).
At approximately 4:08 AM, one of the bombs hit the cargo department of the 'Nova Poshta' company directly. Two other munitions fell on a warehouse facility and the adjacent open area. The shockwave and shrapnel caused significant damage not only to the target objects but also to the surrounding buildings.
Scale of destruction and consequences
As a result of the shelling, the glazing of nearby residential buildings was damaged, as well as four vehicles. Significant damage was done to the power grid: due to damaged lines, part of the Izium district was left without electricity. At the site where the bombs hit the sorting center, there is destruction of building structures and metal roofing.
As of the morning of July 24, the city administration had not received information about any deaths or injuries resulting from the strike on Izium. The situation on the ground remains difficult due to the destruction and power outages.
General context of attacks on Ukraine
The attack on Izium took place against the backdrop of a large-scale strike on the entire country. On the night of July 24, Russia launched five missiles and 180 attack unmanned aerial vehicles at Ukraine. Air defense forces managed to shoot down most of the targets, however, hits were recorded in several regions.
The day before, on the afternoon of July 23, the enemy attacked Zaporizhzhia with air bombs. By the evening of that day, the number of casualties resulting from the shelling reached 25 people. Among the wounded were six children and a three-month-old infant.
