The State Agency for Restoration and Development of Infrastructure of Ukraine has announced the extension of large-scale traffic restrictions through the checkpoint and the town of Rava-Ruska. Temporary limits apply to heavy freight transport and international bus routes transiting through this section of the state border. These measures are driven by the necessity to complete comprehensive repair works on the strategically important M-09 Ternopil – Lviv – Rava-Ruska national highway.
Large-scale reconstruction of the M-09 highway and the Rata River bridge
Roadworks on the M-09 section within the town limits of Rava-Ruska are underway across several key directions simultaneously. Engineers and construction crews are installing a modern storm drainage system to prevent roadbed flooding and actively laying the lower leveling layer of the new asphalt concrete pavement. Concurrently, specialists are performing technologically complex works on the bridge crossing over the Rata River, requiring strict adherence to construction regulations and temporary lane closures.
Construction of a new roundabout and reasons for the extension
In addition to roadbed and bridge repairs, the construction of a new roundabout is ongoing within the town. It is being designed at the intersection of critical transport arteries: the M-09 Ternopil – Lviv – Rava-Ruska highway and the T-14-04 Chervonohrad – Rava-Ruska regional road. The decision to extend the strict restrictions until November 10, 2026, was made not only for road safety reasons, but also to ensure that construction crews can finish critical work volumes before the onset of autumn rains and frosts.
Alternative detour routes and recommendations for drivers
To minimize inconveniences and maintain logistical chains, specialized agencies have developed a special temporary detour route bypassing the closed urban section. Vehicles will be redirected via public state highways P-15 Kovel – Volodymyr-Volynskyi – Chervonohrad – Zhovkva and further along T-14-04 Chervonohrad – Rava-Ruska. This scheme has been thoroughly coordinated with the Patrol Police Department and the Restoration Service. Drivers are advised to factor in extra travel time in advance and strictly follow temporary road signs.
