Great Britain is sending an additional batch of long-range Storm Shadow cruise missiles to Ukraine. This move is designed to disrupt Russian attacks on civilian infrastructure ahead of the winter season.
Negotiation Details and London's Stance
According to sources, the issue of replenishing British cruise missile stockpiles was discussed during a meeting between British Prime Minister Andy Burnham and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in London. The supplies are part of strengthened support for Ukraine by Western allies.
The British government believes that Ukraine's use of long-range weapons against Russian targets involved in attacks on civilians is a defensive step. London notes that Kyiv has the right to counter Russian escalation and increased drone production.
Technical Characteristics and Production Initiatives
The missiles, manufactured by MBDA, have a flight range of over 250 km. They are capable of effectively penetrating Russian air defense systems due to low-altitude flight and high speed.
In August, the UK announced plans to share missile blueprints with Kyiv for local assembly directly in Ukraine. Additionally, the country is developing low-cost long-range weapons independent of American components.
Comprehensive Aid and Sanctions Pressure
In addition to Storm Shadow missiles, the UK is accelerating deliveries of lightweight multi-role LMM missiles to destroy drones and is preparing new sanctions against Russia. These steps come amid international challenges and ongoing efforts to achieve a resolution.
