Ukrainian air defense demonstrated high efficiency by destroying nearly 88% of jet-powered unmanned aerial vehicles launched by Russian forces during the day. According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, from 07:30 to 18:00, the adversary attacked Ukrainian territory with 138 strike drones, more than half of which—90 units—belonged to jet types. Thanks to the coordinated work of air defense crews and electronic warfare, 125 drones were shot down or suppressed, including 79 jet-powered ones.

Specifics of Jet Drone Deployment

Recently, the Russian side has increasingly deployed jet drones for strikes, which present a significantly more difficult target for air defense compared to traditional propeller-driven devices like the Shahed. The high flight speed of such weapons requires Ukrainian defenders to react instantly and use specialized interception methods. Despite the technological complexity of such targets, the neutralization rate of jet drones reached 87,78% for the day, marking a substantial result for Ukraine's air defense system.

Impact of Starshield Communication Restrictions

Against the backdrop of intensifying jet drone deployment, Ukrainian defense enterprises are actively working to create their own interceptor drones. However, technological difficulties arose previously: on October 14, it became known that the United States had imposed restrictions of up to 160 kilometers per hour on connection speeds for Starshield terminals. Since these terminals are utilized on Ukrainian interceptors, the restrictions temporarily deprived the devices of sufficient speed to pursue jet targets.

Resumption of Communication Terminal Operations

The communication restriction issue was promptly resolved through cooperation between specialized departments. Informed sources within the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported that normal high-speed operation of Starshield terminals has been fully restored. This allows for the continued combat deployment and further improvement of Ukrainian counter-measures against high-speed aerial threats, reducing risks for peaceful cities and critical infrastructure.

Significance of Repelling the Massive Attack

The successful repulsion of a large-scale raid utilizing a mixed fleet of drones confirms the high adaptability of Ukraine's air defense system to new technological challenges. As of evening hours, up to four strike drones were recorded in airspace, but the military urges citizens not to ignore air raid alerts. Further development of domestic interceptors combined with reliable communication systems will strengthen the country's airspace protection capabilities.
