Pensioners in Ukraine now have the opportunity to change the method of receiving their monthly payments — either in cash via "Ukrposhta" or to a bank card — entirely remotely, without queues or visits to Pension Fund offices. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing the official web portal of the Pension Fund of Ukraine in the Ternopil region.

Right to Choose and Remote Service

According to information from the department, Ukrainian pensioners have the full right to independently choose a convenient method for receiving funds. It is now possible to change the payment method or even the receiving bank without leaving home. To transfer funds to a card, an account number in IBAN format is required. It consists of 29 characters and starts with the prefix UA. These details can be obtained in the bank's mobile app in the section with account details.

How to Submit an Application Online: Step-by-Step Guide

The procedure for changing the payment method is designed to minimize paperwork. First, you need to go to the official web portal of electronic services of the Pension Fund. In the upper right corner of the page, click the "Login" button and choose a convenient authorization method:

  • Using QES (Qualified Electronic Signature): upload the key file and enter the password.
  • Using "Diia. Pidpis": generate a QR code and confirm your identity via the "Diia" app on your smartphone.

After logging into your personal cabinet, select the "Pension Provision" block in the left sidebar menu, then the item "Making changes to the pension file" and the service "Application to change the method of pension payment".

Filling in Data and Attaching Documents

The applicant's personal data is usually pulled from the registry automatically, but it should be carefully checked. In the "Payment Method" field, you must select the desired option:

  • If a bank is selected, indicate its name and the 29-digit IBAN account.
  • If "Ukrposhta" is selected, enter the exact address of residence and the postal office number.

Next, you need to click the "Add File" button and attach prepared scans of the passport, tax number certificate, and bank details. Files are accepted in PDF or JPEG format, with the size of each document not exceeding 1 megabyte.

After uploading the documents, you must give consent for the processing of personal data and click "Generate Application". The generated document is checked, signed with an electronic signature (QES or "Diia. Pidpis"), and sent to the Pension Fund by clicking the "Send to PFO" button.

Deadlines and Review Status

After sending, the application goes to the fund's specialists for processing. The review status can be tracked in the personal cabinet in the "My Appeals" section. Usually, the payment method is changed from the next month after submitting the application, provided it was submitted before the formation of payment data.

This new opportunity is relevant against the backdrop of changes in pension rules that came into force in August and affected the calculation of pensions for certain categories of recipients.
